Coffee Bar
Our house has a kitchen with a very small footprint so we knew from the very beginning we would need to do something to create additional storage and counter space. We also have a very long living room with a large open wall. So we decided to use that space to add a coffee bar that would tie into our kitchen design. Because permitting and designing a kitchen is much more time consuming we decided to move forward with the bar immediately and do the kitchen when the designs were ready.
Our first step was to pick out the design. I chose white shaker cabinets because they are bright, crips and clean! I also knew I wanted to do brushed brass hardware and a white and grey countertop. We chose to do upper cabinets on either end of the bar with glass doors to showcase some of our glasses and dishes. We also decided to have those uppers sit on top of the countertop to differentiate it from a kitchen.
The hardest part was picking out the countertops, because I love the look of Carrera marble but needed something more durable. I wanted a durable stone with thick grey veins running through it, but I also wanted to make sure the coloring was cool without any beige tones. Every stone wholesaler we went to was out of the countertops I liked! I finally found one called Calacatta Verona that was available and exactly what we were looking for. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was also quite affordable!
Just like when we remodeled the kitchen of our first home, we used Premium Cabinets OC for all of our cabinetry and countertops since they do an amazing job! The installation is always perfect and the cabinet installer even used our exact crown molding to match the existing crown in the room. All I had to do was prime and paint it!
Just like most of our house projects, this one still isn’t completely done, I will update you once it is. We are going to wrap up a lot of our projects once we finish our kitchen renovation to make sure it all flows together. We recently added a gold circle shelf in between the cabinets as a temporary decoration. The problem is that since we are all stuck in quarantine, I cant go out and buy decorations for the shelves! Eventually I want to add a tile backsplash to the wall going all the way up to the ceiling and may eventually add floating shelves as well.
