Mermaid Birthday Party
My daughter has been talking about having a mermaid party for the last year! We have had a difficult year this year and I wasn’t sure I had the capacity to take on a big party. But I also didn’t want to disappoint her and let’s be honest I love decorating for parties! So I decided to make it easier by cutting back on the guest list! I DIYed everything I could on the party to save money and everything turned out so cute! I have a video showing how I made the balloon arch and setting up for the party HERE. I also have a video showing some of the party details HERE.
I ordered all of our outfits off of amazon, except for my sons shirt which I made on my Cricut! You can find the links to our outfits HERE.
The balloon arch and photo backdrop turned out so cute! I used THESE iridescent tablecloths to cover wood plywood for the backdrop. I used THIS gold arch to attach all of the balloons to and I used THESE balloons which were perfect and didn’t pop! I also used THIS clamshell pool float and the little girls loved sitting on it pretending to be a mermaid!
I bought THESE hanging jellyfish which looked so cute above the kids table! My husband built this little kids picnic table for the kids. We had an old closet door laying around so he screwed on some 4x4’s that he cut down for legs and it was perfect! I used purple sequin material I had leftover from another party as a table cloth. I put out one of THESE cute seashell plates for each kid and a treasure chest for them to decorate. I bought THESE treasure chests and pre-painted them to keep the party mess free. Inside each chest was a bunch of sticker jewels and pearls that I bought at the 99 cent store. Each little girl also got a pair of DIYed mermaid sunglasses! I bought THESE glasses and added THESE mermaid charms to them with hot glue!
My husband’s Aunt always makes the cakes for our parties and she made this beautiful mermaid cake and mini cupcakes! I dipped wafers and Oreos in chocolate and added pearl sprinkles along with chocolate seashells that I made with THESE molds.
We didn’t do a ton of food because the party was from 2-5pm but I I had a lot of snacks out for everyone to munch on. I love having out a charcuterie platter, veggies + fruit and premade mini tacos from Sam’s Club. I also made little slider sandwiches out of Hawaiian Rolls and PB&J. I ordered all the ingredients from Sam’s Club to save money and put it all on display.
I’m so happy with how all the decor and details turned out but most of all I’m so happy my daughter had the time of her life! She felt so loved and had so much fun celebrating with all of her friends! Now I can’t wait to see what theme she picks out for next year!
